At long last, Sincerely Love kanzashi is confirmed to be selling at
Fanime Con 2013 in San Jose, CA!
This convention will be held during Memorial Day Weekend, from
May 24-27. If you will be attending, please come look for us and our kanzashi products in the Artist Alley!
Several new kanzashi pieces will be making their debut at Fanime before being posted here online, so please don't miss this chance! Come see the handicraft in person, save on some shipping fees, or just show up to say hi~
For those of you who have attended FanimeCon in the past, please note that this year the Artist Alley has been MOVED outside of the convention center, to the
South Hall! It is very close by to the main building, so please do come visit and browse.
This also means, however, that I am
closing commissions starting today, Saturday, April 20 to prepare for the convention. Orders that have already been placed will be completed, but I will not be accepting new commissions for custom kanzashi until June. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope to see you at Fanime!
Sincerely,
Aimei (爱美)
Background of Kanzashi
Tsumami kanzashi, or simply
kanzashi as it is commonly known, refers to the traditional Japanese hair ornaments commonly worn by geisha and maiko, made by folding fabric into elaborate styles and shapes. Most commonly seen as flowers (花簪
hana kanzashi), tsumami kanzashi can be made into extravagant headdresses consisting of hundreds of individually hand-folded petals.
Nowadays, the traditional art of kanzashi can be remade into striking modern styles. Fabric flowers are still made using traditional folding and crafting techniques, but with a modern edge that can be incorporated into any style and look. Whether accompanying a formal dress or casual everyday outfit, kanzashi can add a touch of a traditional Japanese art to modern fashion.
